For more than 30 years, Susan and Gordon Tait have been crafting outdoor furniture designed to last in the Australian elements. Using multi-coated metals for optimal corrosion resistance and UV stable powder coating, Tait outdoor furniture is well-suited for coastal environments.
Byron Bay locals can now experience in-person, the award-winning design and high-performance qualities of Tait outdoor furniture at their new pop-up store in Banksia Drive.
‘When the opening [for the pop-up] came up, it sounded like the perfect opportunity,’ says Founding Director Gordon Tait. ‘We’re all about a laidback lifestyle, sustainable materials, Australian culture and A Life Outside – values that are communally celebrated across the Byron region’ said co-founder, Gordon Tait.
Durable against the sun, sand and wind
Like many Australian locations, Byron Bay endures heavy rainfall followed by warm days, leading to damp and mould issues for many homeowners. Tait products have been designed and manufactured to combat these issues.

Australian-made and made to order
A unique aspect of the Tait range is that every order is custom-made in Melbourne. Customers select their pieces and choose from a range of fabrics and finishes that suit their personal outdoor space.
Inspired by the Australian landscape, customers can select powder coat colours from the warm tones of Headland and Burgundy Clay to the soft hues of Pale Eucalypt and Mountain Blue. Tait also partners with premium textiles brands to curate a range of luxurious and durable upholstery

Sustainably focussed operations – From manufacturing to refurbishment
Tait is also proud of its commitment to making furniture that will last for generations to come, as well as minimising its environmental footprint in its Melbourne factory and national operations.
