On the back of countless insightful suggestions provided by committee and participants at the inaugural Re-generate 2021 conference workshop session, the Vision group was formed to distill the Vision, Mission and Goals of the Regional Architects Association.

Over a solid course of Zoom meetings, shared writings, edits and late night slam poetry side windings, and litmus testing on unsuspecting architects, it became evident the key themes of support, advocacy and community connected everyone and everything that had been discussed.

The RAA’s purpose then emerged -
Supporting regional architectural practitioners to collectively strengthen the practice of architecture, and to advocate for better understanding of the value and benefits of architecture, within local communities.

A strategic plan then emerged to cover off and help us communicate the values of the organisation. A set of Objectives for the Association was drafted, which after debate and review by the committee have been adopted as referenced by the Constitution. The first version of this plan is now available.

As the RAA is a member driven association, this strategic direction will continue to evolve, relying on the members for feedback, input and guidance in remaining open and relevant. With feelers out via members on the ground, there is an opportunity to respond to regional issues in a coordinated yet nuanced way, developing a voice for the members and raising awareness at many levels of the essential value of architecture in the regions.

The working group has the following members:
Brent Dunn
Cameron Anderson
Matt Cooper
Tony McBurney
Katharina Hendel
Marcus Piper
