ABOUT THE EVENT
Marking the Regional Architecture Association’s first venture into the Northern territory - creative directors Bobbie Bayley, Owen Kelly and Tonielle Dempers will curate an experience that examines the complexity of the arid and remote places of Central Australia. Over three days in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) and surrounds, this gathering will invite delegates to gain a deeper understanding of place, culture and built environment.
Attendees will engage with the conditions that amplify the cultural, ecological, and climatic considerations for design thinking. Climate change disproportionately impacts the vulnerable communities of Central Australia. while additional challenges of distance, cost, availability, appetite for design, and the weight of bureaucracy further shape the reality faced by projects and practitioners.
Stories of an ancient and powerful landscape of rich culture, diverse languages, deep knowledge, vibrant communities, and inspiring visions for the future will be shared during the event.
The RAA event will likely coincide with Desert Mob, an annual cultural festival and delegates will have the opportunity to attend associated events and exhibitions around town.
