RAA Committee Profile

SARAH ALDRIDGE
Secretary

Sarah Aldridge of Byron Bay practice SPACEstudio is currently in the role of secretary and has been on the committee since the RAA’s inception in 2021. As a committed regionalist, Sarah strongly believed there was a desperate need for a representative body for regional practitioners, recognising that advocacy on behalf of regional practitioners at governance level is essential to the sustainability of regional practice.

One of Sarah’s most significant achievements for the Regional Architecture Association is helping to create the Handbook, a document that outlines all the processes and procedures of the organisation and how it’s run on a daily basis.

Sarah has also been involved in a great many issues affecting our profession through her role on the committee, ranging from high level advocacy to technical details, but all supporting significant development professionally.

Sarah always enjoys participating in RAA’s face-to-face events and she sees them as one of the greatest achievements of the organisation, supporting the profession through connection, community and learning.

Sarah would strongly encourage others to be involved in the future of the RAA because, in her own words, “regional practitioners really need an effective advocacy body and RAA is the only one that exists in Australia! It is fun to be part of an agile organisation that responds quickly and appropriately to the issues arising, as RAA is able to do.”

There will be committee positions open at the upcoming AGM in September. RAA members are invited to express their interest in joining by contacting Rhiannon on info@regionalarchitecture.net.au
